SQF

The SQF Code has been redesigned for use by all sectors of the food industry from primary production to transport and distribution. Edition 7 applies to all industry sectors and replaces the SQF 2000 Code edition 6 and the SQF 1000 Code edition 5.

The SQF Code is a process and product certification standard. It is a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)-based food safety and quality management system that utilizes the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Food (NACMCF) and the CODEX Alimentarius Commission HACCP principles and guidelines. The SQF Code is intended to support industry or company branded products and offers benefits to suppliers and their customers. Products produced and manufactured under the SQF Code certification retain a high degree of acceptance in global markets.

Allergen Management

 

 

 

Food allergens are typically naturally-occurring proteins in foods or derivatives of them that cause abnormal immune responses. Prevalence of food allergies around the world is believed to be increasing, with more than 8% of children and 2% of adults in countries like Australia and New Zealand having allergy to one or more foods. Fortunately, many children outgrow their allergies by the time they have reached 5-7 years of age. This is more likely for some allergies such as milk and egg than for others such as peanut and tree nut.
What are people most allergic to? There is a group that causes about 90% of all allergic reactions, with hundreds of substances responsible for causing the other 10%. Practically all foods have the capacity to cause an allergic reaction in a person who has become sensitised to that substance. The key food allergens are: peanuts; tree nuts; soy; milk, egg; cereals; seafood; fish; and sesame.

GLOBALG.A.P.

The EUREPGAP standards helped producers comply with Europe-wide accepted criteria for food safety, sustainable production methods, worker and animal welfare, and responsible use of water, compound feed and plant propagation materials. Harmonized certification also meant savings for producers, as they would no longer need to undergo several audits against different criteria every year.


Over the next ten years the process spread throughout the continent and beyond. Driven by the impacts of globalization, a growing number of producers and retailers around the globe joined in, gaining the European organization global significance.


To reflect both its global reach and its goal of becoming the leading international G.A.P. standard, EurepGAP changed its name to GLOBALG.A.P. in 2007.


GLOBALG.A.P. today is the world's leading farm assurance program, translating consumer requirements into Good Agricultural Practice in a rapidly growing list of countries – currently more than 100 on every continent.
